Where did the weekend go? We were productive, but it went by in a flash!
Have you got a busy week ahead?

I'm all about Christmas - busy designing new Christmas decorations, which I'm so excited to share with you. But not just yet as let's enjoy Autumn first 🍂

I've got the dreaded weekly food shop to do. I hate cooking. I hate thinking of what to cook and then having to cook every single night. When did I sign up for this? 🤪

If we won the lottery, the first thing I'd buy isn't a holiday, boat or a ridiculously expensive car - it would be a chef! 100%!!! Someone to plan and cook all our meals would be amazing!!! 👩‍🍳

As I (sadly) don't have a personal chef, I try to make it easier for myself by planning every meal for the week and do an online shop for those meals. This stops the dreaded "what am I going to cook tonight" thought. 🤔

Do you do something similar or do you enjoy cooking and coming up with a meal on the spur of the moment? Hats off to you if you are totally winging it each evening!

Right, as I'm up early I'd better make the most of it and crack on.

🍂 AUTUMN HOME DECOR 🍂

Time to get cosy! Don't get me wrong, I love summer, but I also love getting cosy.
Lighting candles, putting snuggly blankets on the sofa, and changing a few decorative pieces around my home like pretty pumpkins and rustic pieces that give a nod to the season changing. Ooh and maybe a wreath for the door!

I'm not into giving my entire home a complete overhaul for the change of season, just a few pieces is enough.

What do you like to do in your home when the seasons change? Do you add a couple of bits or are you a bit more committed and the paint brush comes out?

After a couple of weeks of being poorly I’m ready for new beginnings today. I have a to-do list as long as my arm which includes my autumn collection and lots of Christmas prep! Cannot wait to share lovely new home decor with you.

My daughter and I went to see Practical Magic 2 yesterday. 🕯️✨🧙The first one is one of our favourite films and we watch it every autumn. But now we will have both of them to watch each autumn 🍂 😍

When we got home last night I lit all the candles to try to create the Practical Magic vibe. Autumn evenings are the time to get cosy and I’m here for it. Candles, twinkle lights, cosy throws and a mug of hot chocolate. What’s not to love.

Good morning lovelies,
Are you enjoying the cooler weather? I'm a sun girl but I am thankful for the cooler temperatures. And the rain has been wonderful. Don't get me wrong, our lawn still looks like straw and is crunchy to walk on, but at least we're getting the odd shower. 🌧

As some of you may have seen on my stories, I've been making the most of an early glut of apples from our tree and making apple crumbles for the colder months ahead. They're easy to make and then freeze. I use foil trays with lids to bake them in, and then just let them defrost during the day and warm them in the oven for a few mins when I need them. Great for when you have people round for dinner as your dessert is already made. 🥧

As my daughter is coeliac, all of my cooking and baking is gluten free, so if you're looking for an easy gluten free apple crumble recipe - scroll to the last image in my post. This can also be a "normal" bake by using regular plain flour instead of gluten free. The grounds almonds give the crumble a lovely texture and nutty flavour.

A little tip I use when I come across a new recipe, I always reduce the amount of sugar. I find, there is always far too much sugar in recipes. I reduce the amount each time I bake something to see if there is a difference and if we miss the sugar.

I already have a few crumbles in my freezer ready for the autumn and winter. They're nice to have if you're having a lighter main meal. 😋

The alarm going off this morning was a shock to the system I can tell you!

Having a week with no responsibilities was soooo nice.

But I have to be honest, by the last day I had my notebook out planning my the week ahead.

My to-do list is silly long so I need to make it more manageable for today as, like many parents this summer I’m also a taxi for my daughter. 🚖 Although she is learning to drive so I will soon be hanging up my mum taxi hat.

Anyway, I’d better get cracking and make my coffee ☕️

☀️ Another sunny day - another salad option for lunch
I love a good salad. It has to have some protein in it and some crunch. 🥗

Again, super simple to make at lunchtime.

Ingredients:
- Tin tuna (I use the one in spring water)
- Mayo (as much or as little as you like)
- Salad leaves
- Rocket
- Diced apple (I used a Granny Smith’s)
- Walnuts - fibre
- Pumpkin seeds - protein
- Cherry toms
- Cucumber

Mix tuna and mayo together. Add diced apple and chopped walnuts (can also use peanuts for a salty crunch). Mix well.

Make your salad up as you like it and top with your tuna mix. Sprinkle with pumpkin seeds. Drizzle with avocado oil. 🥑 (or olive oil)

Enjoy 😊

Another sticky one last night. Our bedroom is like an oven 🥵

I’ve come outside to have my (first) coffee to enjoy the cooler air before my workout.

It’s a hive of activity here on the patio - pigeon walking around with twigs for her nest, shrews running about in the borders, our friendly robin sitting on the fence, blackbirds on the lawn and a mummy sparrow busy feeding her noisy chicks. And I can also hear our guinea pig - Blossom squeaking away.

It’s nice to have just a few minutes of peace before the day starts. I’m so grateful for this as I used to commute into London and that must be hideous in these temperatures. My heart goes out to all the commuters!

I've had a little refresh of the website this week, and one of my favourite new sections is now up and ready to browse. 😊

It's called Gorgeous Homewares for Summer Gatherings and it's exactly what it sounds like. The kind of things that make your home feel a bit more you when people come round. A pretty jug for garden flowers. A chopping board that's too nice to hide away. A glass cloche that makes even a plain candle look like it belongs in a magazine.
Nothing on there needs an occasion.

Marie-Rose dressing (homemade)

Mayo

Splash of soy sauce or Worcestershire

Mix them altogether and sprinkle with paprika 👌

Just had a little walk around the garden with my coffee. Doing a mole check as we’ve had a few this year and as cute as they are - they’re ruining the lawn. 🙄

Today marks the end of a chapter for me and the start of newness 🤩 Lots of things in the pipeline that I’m working on, which I will share with you as soon as I can.

Making a start on the downstairs loo and shower room - it’s getting a little spruce up this weekend. I love a mini DIY project. 😍

Happy hump day! Hope you've all had a good start to the week.

I've got a little update for you. 📋

This week I sent out my June email which includes a story from our life in the Suffolk countryside, a recipe for elderflower cordial, I recommend a perfect book for summer reading and what I'm enjoying in my home right now.

I've added a few new pretty home decor items to my shop. I'm personally obsessed with the gorgeous candle snuffer. I've always wanted one.

I'm working on a new set of products which will help you and give you tools to do certain interior tasks. And by tasks I mean lovely interior things 😊

I will let you know as soon as they are ready.

We're about to start a mini interior project by updating our downstairs loo and shower room. We're repainting over the cool grey with a lovely warm stone colour, replacing the towel rail and adding a few new accessories. There's also a shelf and some hooks which I need to think about too. Not sure what I'm doing with these yet.

I love the magic transformative effect of a tin of paint. ✨✨✨

I cannot wait to get started on the painting this weekend. I don't like all the prep but the actual painting I love. 💕
