Just had a little walk around the garden with my coffee. Doing a mole check as we’ve had a few this year and as cute as they are - they’re ruining the lawn. 🙄

Happy hump day! Hope you've all had a good start to the week.

I've got a little update for you. 📋

This week I sent out my June email which includes a story from our life in the Suffolk countryside, a recipe for elderflower cordial, I recommend a perfect book for summer reading and what I'm enjoying in my home right now.

I've added a few new pretty home decor items to my shop. I'm personally obsessed with the gorgeous candle snuffer. I've always wanted one.

I'm working on a new set of products which will help you and give you tools to do certain interior tasks. And by tasks I mean lovely interior things 😊

I will let you know as soon as they are ready.

We're about to start a mini interior project by updating our downstairs loo and shower room. We're repainting over the cool grey with a lovely warm stone colour, replacing the towel rail and adding a few new accessories. There's also a shelf and some hooks which I need to think about too. Not sure what I'm doing with these yet.

I love the magic transformative effect of a tin of paint. ✨✨✨

I cannot wait to get started on the painting this weekend. I don't like all the prep but the actual painting I love. 💕

I saw something the other day that said "Buying new home accessories is cheaper than buying a new house". 👌

If you're anything like me, you're constantly wanting to have a little "interiors faff" where you move furniture and home accessories to freshen up the look or use of a room in your home.

The only reason I ever want to live in a huge house (I'm thinking chateau or castle) is because I've got so many ideas for interior design that I want to try. My home simply doesn't have the amount of rooms I need. 😂

Am I constantly on the look-out for a cheap chateau in the French countryside - of course I am! 🇫🇷 🏰 😊

So as the chateau option isn't quite viable yet (kids to think about) I am always tweaking my home interior. And as it's the start of a new month, I thought I'd share some new home accessories with you. Who doesn't love a new chopping board? Especially ones as pretty as this one. I have to admit I have a slight obsession for them. I'm sat in the kitchen typing this and from here I can see eight chopping boards. And that doesn't include the ones I have in the cupboard. 😳

I also have Heidi - the new (very cute) vase which sits nicely with the Hugo pot (last photo), or on it's own and has many uses. I love home decor that is both pretty and practical. 💕

We had a little mooch around a farmers market this morning. Saw lots of pretty bouquets 💐 which gave me inspo to make my own when I got home.

We’ve got a cottage garden full of beautiful blooms. I picked a selection and arranged them purposefully in a messy style to go nicely in our countryside cottage. A structured flower display would look out of place in our home.

My tall white jug is in my shop - perfect for flower displays. The shorter, handled vase will be in my shop soon! Just need to take some pics first 📸

I had a little shop-shop recently and bought another two notebooks 🙈 I’m a sucker for a notebook. I’ve got loads but cannot resist when I see a nice shiny new one 🤩

I’m always slightly apprehensive about starting a new notebook as I want that first page to look nice and for the notebook to have a specific purpose.

I’ve started a gratitude journal several times now, do it for a few days and then give up because I can’t get passed being grateful for my family and if I don’t mention them I feel guilty 😂 So I’ve given up!

It’s like that question “if your house was on fire what would you take”. Family obvs but the question is really about what items you’d take with you.

Is anyone else having the same issue? Or is it just me being a numpty? 😊

Maybe I should start the journal again and write at the beginning “it’s a given that I’m grateful for my family” so I can actually be a bit more in-depth each day.

I’d love to be able to journal like those peeps who do it properly with little sketches, use pretty washi-tape and different coloured pens - but I just don’t have the time.

Do you journal or write a diary of some sort?
My husband keeps a digital diary which includes photos for that day. But I’m old fashioned and prefer pen and paper. 📝 And the less time I’m on my phone - the better!

So tonight after I’ve watched Gogglebox (rock n roll over here) I’m going to take myself off to bed and try writing in my gratitude journal again. Maybe I can be grateful for having a new notebook and it being the start of the weekend 🥳

When I was younger the kitchen at home was just a practical space - meals were cooked, jam was made and it was where our pets ate. 🐾

Now kitchens are much more important to a home. When we moved into our characterful cottage the kitchen was very dark and layout didn't work at all. When we first viewed it I remember thinking at the time - this will have to change. 🌟

I wanted a kitchen that was light and welcoming. A multi-functional space where everyone is welcome, and that is now what it is. It's a space where we can relax, as well as cook, do homework or my own work, have family catch-ups or entertain friends. I honestly don't know what we did before we got the island. It's always got so much stuff on it! 🙈 Where the hell did we put it all before!?!? 😆

And the thing I love the most about the space, is that we made sure we had lots of shelving and surfaces so I can add my decorative accessories - I mean, who doesn't love a bit of interior faffing! 😍

Hope you’ve all had a good week. Soooo glad it’s Friday!

As the weather is starting to cheer up my husband and I are out in the garden more. There’s lots to do!
As gardens go it is very high maintenance! Always in need of some TLC. 🙄

We’ve got a smallish patio area that doesn’t really have a use. It’s higher than our main patio area, so one of our projects is to dig out a space in one of the boarders and pop in some steps leading up to the small patio.

It doesn’t get much sunshine as there are tall hedges and trees, so we’re going to clear it all out and start again with plants and flowers that survive without much sun. Apparently, hydrangeas are good for shaded areas? 🪴🪴🪴

Hope you’ve all had a good week. Soooo glad it’s Friday!

As the weather is starting to cheer up my husband and I are out in the garden more. There’s lots to do!
As gardens go it is very high maintenance! Always in need of some TLC. 🙄

We’ve got a smallish patio area that doesn’t really have a use. It’s higher than our main patio area, so one of our projects is to dig out a space in one of the boarders and pop in some steps leading up to the small patio.

What have you been up to? Something nice I hope.

I've done a bit of everything today, including a workout, planning garden projects & baking healthy treats for the week ahead and a naughty (but nice) ginger cake for pudding later. Cannot wait to have a slice of that with some vanilla custard 😋

But a part of my Sunday is to plan - what is coming up next week? We have so many different appointments, meetings and places to be, between us that I need to have them all logged in one place so I know what I'm doing, or where I need to be.

I hate thinking of what to make for dinner each day. How the hell did that become my never-ending job? Nobody tells you this is what you will have to do every - single - day. 🙄 So to save time during the busy week, I plan meals on a Sunday and make a food shopping list at the same time.

I'm not very good at winging it - never have been. I'm a planner. I like to know details in advance - whether that's a work meeting / new project or something like a weekend away. I like to know what's coming up so I know what I need to do in advance. And don't get me started on my lists. OMG I have sooooo many lists and planning notebooks full of ideas for home and business! 🙈 😆

So I'm now trying to put things in place such as the meal plan thing so I reduce the probability of unwanted surprises and stresses during the busy week ahead. And Sunday os the perfect day for this.

Do you like to plan or are you a sod it, let's just wing-it type of person? Sometimes I wish I was a little bit more of a wing-it person but it stresses me out. I much prefer to have a plan. 📝 Are you the same? Let me know in the comments...

Growing and keeping plants alive is probably normal for most people. But for me this is a massive achievement! I am useless with indoor plants. 🪴

I love greenery in the home - it helps soften the edges and adds texture and colour. So I’m a massive fan of faux stems, plants and trees.

But whenever I’ve tried to keep a plant alive in my home it’s dead within no time at all. 😳

I’ve had friends and family gift me plants and it takes me all my time to not say - “no, you keep it as I will kill it within weeks” 😳 Instead I smile, say thank you and quietly whisper to the plant that I’m sorry.

My mum gave me a little cutting of this at Christmas and it’s still alive!!!! And it’s grown and everything! 😍

I just hope I can keep it going 🤞

Hope you all had a fabulous Easter weekend.
Yesterday was so nice here in Suffolk. Sun was shining and the wind had died off, so I had the windows and doors open and the umph to get some jobs done in the garden and around the house.

I felt motivated to do some jobs that had been driving me crazy for a while (see yesterday's stories) and to do a bit of a deep clean of the house.

When I opened some of our windows (of which haven't been opened since last summer) the space around the frames were full of cobwebs and dust. So I gave them a good clean and rehoused the spiders. 😱

Many years ago in a different house I did have a cleaner but I never had the same satisfaction of a clean house as I do when I've done it myself. So I've never had one since. Plus my particular cleaner stole from me and went into my office and literally rooted through boxes of files etc. And this was when I was in the house with her!

Anyway, I much prefer to clean my own house and love that feeling of when everything looks sparkly that I've done it. 😊

Hope you all had a fabulous Easter weekend.

I’m so looking forward to the lighter nights and warmer weather when we can sit outside. However there is snow forecast next week! 🙄

But I do love this time of the evening when it’s just still light out but it’s time to turn the lamps on. I do love a lamp. I’ve got them everywhere! The “big light” if for emergencies only - lost an earring or catching a house spider 😁
