Hope you all had a lovely weekend. We had a week away which was lovely and relaxing. Some much needed downtime.

The alarm going off this morning was a shock to the system I can tell you!

Having a week with no responsibilities was soooo nice.

But I have to be honest, by the last day I had my notebook out planning my the week ahead.

My to-do list is silly long so I need to make it more manageable for today as, like many parents this summer I’m also a taxi for my daughter. 🚖 Although she is learning to drive so I will soon be hanging up my mum taxi hat.

Anyway, I’d better get cracking and make my coffee ☕️

Time to relax and have fun as a family. The first half of this year has been very stressful due to a number of things, so we're looking forward to taking a break, having some fun and making sure the second half of 2026 is memorable for all the right reasons.

My shop will remain open, but orders won't be processed until Monday 3rd August.

Time to relax and have fun as a family. The first half of this year has been very stressful due to a number of things, so we're looking forward to taking a break, having some fun and making sure the second half of 2026 is memorable for all the right reasons.

These little clay signs started as an idea about exactly that, the phrases we say to the people we love, or sometimes never quite say out loud. Hand-stamped, torn-edged, finished with twine. Small enough to sit on a shelf, meaningful enough to keep for years.

☀️ Another sunny day - another salad option for lunch
I love a good salad. It has to have some protein in it and some crunch. 🥗

Again, super simple to make at lunchtime.

Ingredients:
- Tin tuna (I use the one in spring water)
- Mayo (as much or as little as you like)
- Salad leaves
- Rocket
- Diced apple (I used a Granny Smith’s)
- Walnuts - fibre
- Pumpkin seeds - protein
- Cherry toms
- Cucumber

Mix tuna and mayo together. Add diced apple and chopped walnuts (can also use peanuts for a salty crunch). Mix well.

Make your salad up as you like it and top with your tuna mix. Sprinkle with pumpkin seeds. Drizzle with avocado oil. 🥑 (or olive oil)

Enjoy 😊

Another sticky one last night. Our bedroom is like an oven 🥵

I’ve come outside to have my (first) coffee to enjoy the cooler air before my workout.

It’s a hive of activity here on the patio - pigeon walking around with twigs for her nest, shrews running about in the borders, our friendly robin sitting on the fence, blackbirds on the lawn and a mummy sparrow busy feeding her noisy chicks. It’s nice to have just a few minutes of peace before the day starts. I’m so grateful for this as I used to commute into London and that must be hideous in these temperatures. My heart goes out to all the commuters!

But no matter what life throws at us, being at home makes me feel as if I'm in a big hug. 🤗

I love the word 'home' and all that it stands for. From feeling safe and happy, to taking your bra off after work and lounging in your PJs without a care of what you may look like. 😄

We're still creating memories, managing to laugh and of course, our friends & family are always welcome. 😊

Happy hump day! Hope you've all had a good start to the week.

I've got a little update for you. 📋

This week I sent out my June email which includes a story from our life in the Suffolk countryside, a recipe for elderflower cordial, I recommend a perfect book for summer reading and what I'm enjoying in my home right now.

I've added a few new pretty home decor items to my shop. I'm personally obsessed with the gorgeous candle snuffer. I've always wanted one.

I'm working on a new set of products which will help you and give you tools to do certain interior tasks. And by tasks I mean lovely interior things 😊

I will let you know as soon as they are ready.

We're about to start a mini interior project by updating our downstairs loo and shower room. We're repainting over the cool grey with a lovely warm stone colour, replacing the towel rail and adding a few new accessories. There's also a shelf and some hooks which I need to think about too. Not sure what I'm doing with these yet.

I love the magic transformative effect of a tin of paint. ✨✨✨

I cannot wait to get started on the painting this weekend. I don't like all the prep but the actual painting I love. 💕

I saw something the other day that said "Buying new home accessories is cheaper than buying a new house". 👌

If you're anything like me, you're constantly wanting to have a little "interiors faff" where you move furniture and home accessories to freshen up the look or use of a room in your home.

The only reason I ever want to live in a huge house (I'm thinking chateau or castle) is because I've got so many ideas for interior design that I want to try. My home simply doesn't have the amount of rooms I need. 😂

Am I constantly on the look-out for a cheap chateau in the French countryside - of course I am! 🇫🇷 🏰 😊

So as the chateau option isn't quite viable yet (kids to think about) I am always tweaking my home interior. And as it's the start of a new month, I thought I'd share some new home accessories with you. Who doesn't love a new chopping board? Especially ones as pretty as this one. I have to admit I have a slight obsession for them. I'm sat in the kitchen typing this and from here I can see eight chopping boards. And that doesn't include the ones I have in the cupboard. 😳

I also have Heidi - the new (very cute) vase which sits nicely with the Hugo pot (last photo), or on it's own and has many uses. I love home decor that is both pretty and practical. 💕

We had a little mooch around a farmers market this morning. Saw lots of pretty bouquets 💐 which gave me inspo to make my own when I got home.

We’ve got a cottage garden full of beautiful blooms. I picked a selection and arranged them purposefully in a messy style to go nicely in our countryside cottage. A structured flower display would look out of place in our home.

My tall white jug is in my shop - perfect for flower displays. The shorter, handled vase will be in my shop soon! Just need to take some pics first 📸

All this sunshine has nudged my first peony to bloom 💕 I love, love, love peonies- they’re so fluffy and pretty. These cream ones are all about to bloom and my pink ones won’t be far behind.

I love them but I just wished they lasted longer.

Hoping this evening is a little cooler as it’s not been fun trying to sleep in this heat has it! 🥵

I had a little shop-shop recently and bought another two notebooks 🙈 I’m a sucker for a notebook. I’ve got loads but cannot resist when I see a nice shiny new one 🤩

I’m always slightly apprehensive about starting a new notebook as I want that first page to look nice and for the notebook to have a specific purpose.

I’ve started a gratitude journal several times now, do it for a few days and then give up because I can’t get passed being grateful for my family and if I don’t mention them I feel guilty 😂 So I’ve given up!

It’s like that question “if your house was on fire what would you take”. Family obvs but the question is really about what items you’d take with you.

Is anyone else having the same issue? Or is it just me being a numpty? 😊

Maybe I should start the journal again and write at the beginning “it’s a given that I’m grateful for my family” so I can actually be a bit more in-depth each day.

I’d love to be able to journal like those peeps who do it properly with little sketches, use pretty washi-tape and different coloured pens - but I just don’t have the time.

Do you journal or write a diary of some sort?
My husband keeps a digital diary which includes photos for that day. But I’m old fashioned and prefer pen and paper. 📝 And the less time I’m on my phone - the better!

So tonight after I’ve watched Gogglebox (rock n roll over here) I’m going to take myself off to bed and try writing in my gratitude journal again. Maybe I can be grateful for having a new notebook and it being the start of the weekend 🥳

When I was younger the kitchen at home was just a practical space - meals were cooked, jam was made and it was where our pets ate. 🐾

Now kitchens are much more important to a home. When we moved into our characterful cottage the kitchen was very dark and layout didn't work at all. When we first viewed it I remember thinking at the time - this will have to change. 🌟

I wanted a kitchen that was light and welcoming. A multi-functional space where everyone is welcome, and that is now what it is. It's a space where we can relax, as well as cook, do homework or my own work, have family catch-ups or entertain friends. I honestly don't know what we did before we got the island. It's always got so much stuff on it! 🙈 Where the hell did we put it all before!?!? 😆

And the thing I love the most about the space, is that we made sure we had lots of shelving and surfaces so I can add my decorative accessories - I mean, who doesn't love a bit of interior faffing! 😍
